Council Celebrates 100 years of the BSA at Birthday Dinner

On Friday, February 12, 2010, the Trapper Trails Council initiated the 100 year anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America!
A phenomenal gathering of 840 Scout, religious, and community leaders gathered in the ballroom of the Ogden Eccles Conference center to celebrate 100 years for the Boy Scouts of America.

Detailed displays lined the halls outside of the ballroom, hallmarked by an impressive Monkey Bridge constructed specifically for the event.

Utah Lieutenant Governor Greg Bell served as the key-note speaker for the evening. President David Beck, Young Men General President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints also spoke to the audience.

The evening concluded with local entertainer Jon Schmidt -- who performed on piano and successfully roused the audience!

Each recipient of the gala dinner received a commemorative coin celebrating the theme of the dinner: Leave a Legacy. Ogden business leader George Hall served a Master of Ceremonies. At the beginning of the evening, George set the tone for the evening stating, "Tonight, as we celebrate I would invite you to consider 2 things: 1. What has been the legacy left by the leaders of your youth upon you and 2. What is your legacy? "

To all who are in the Boy Scouts of America, take a moment and ask yourself the same questions: What has been the legacy left by the leaders of your youth upon you, and what will your legacy be?

Celebrate to journey, continue the adventure; LEAVE A LEGACY!

Happy Birthday BSA!
